INTEGRATIVE & IFS-INFORMED SUPERVISION
|
Having originally trained in integrative counselling and psychotherapy with a UKCP college in Suffolk, UK, Sarah went on to qualify as an IFS therapist in 2018–19, training to Level 3 with in-person training from Richard Schwartz (founder of IFS). She then completed a Diploma in Clinical Supervision with the renowned UKCP College, The Northern Guild, Newcastle and is a registered UKCP Clinical Supervisor. She has also studied at The Psychoanalytic Centre at the University of Essex, and trained in Interpersonal Neurobiology with The Mindsight Institute, California.
Using an integrative approach, Sarah provides a safe, supportive and collaborative environment for supervision in which curiosity and reflection can flourish. There is always a complex set of dynamics at play in clinical work, and myriad reactions happening in and between clients and counsellors, representing trailheads for deepening the work. There's a saying in psychotherapy that 'whatever is in the way is the way', so supervisees are especially encouraged to bring up areas in which they feel confused, stuck or have potentially 'gone wrong', because these often turn out to hold rich seams of information and healing potential. Where supervisees are interested in parts work or IFS, you will be encouraged to become particularly interested in the parts of you that are reacting to parts of the clients, and potentially derailing or helping the work. By getting to know which parts of you have become reactive in session, you will be able to gain information inside – especially regarding counter-transference – and return to the client in the moment with a clearer mind, greater curiosity and genuine open-heartedness and compassion. Your developmental needs as a counsellor or therapist will always be held in mind, and we can work together to remain open to learning edges and newly developing areas of interest. |
